Tour a SNOTEL site! Understanding Snowpack and its role in Western Water
Description
Snow is a way of life here in Colorado. It is also our water supply. Come discover the relationship between snow and water during this “field trip for adults” with Roaring Fork Conservancy and Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).
Meet us for coffee at the Redstone Inn to learn what snowpack means in terms of water, soil moisture, forest health, and how climate variability is impacting it all. After a short discussion, we will drive to a field location on McClure Pass to learn how to conduct a snow course survey and collect and analyze samples. Participants will also have the unique opportunity to visit a SNOTEL site at the top of McClure Pass!
